Our Pholosophy as a Centre

At Serpentine childcare centre our philosophy is heavily centred on Fredrich Foebels theory that children learn best through play. We implement this by responding to children’s ideas and interests and use intentional teaching o scaffold and extend on learning.

We acknowledge that Flies are the children’s first teachers and use our formed relationships to create a shared environment where everyone feels safe, respected, included and valued. We appreciate all input and feedback from families and our local community. We strive to be a place of support and ensure all who enter are welcomed with open arms.

We believe that understanding a child in to understand how they learn and as such we provide many varied ways of teaching and learning. Early education is not a one size approach and all of our educators have many strengths to bring to the table so ensure learning and achievement is accessible to all children.

Our approach to sustainability is hands on with the children driving the way we conserve. Sustainability is embedded in our service with educators regularly discussing ways with the children to do more for our planet and community.

Finally we have a commitment to continuous improvement. We maintain a culture of ongoing reflection and review of practice, educators, policies and procedures. We believe that continual self-reflection can create opportunities for discussion and growth, which is the cornerstone of who we are at Serpentine Childcare.
